The Niles Police Department has a canine unit is comprised of one Police Officer and a law enforcement trained canine. K-9 Officer Ace is a German Shepherd and his handler received their initial training from Tops Kennel in Grayslake, Illinois. K-9 Ace and his handler conduct weekly training, both with Tops Kennel as well as training one on one between the handler and K-9 Ace.
K-9 Ace is trained to detect numerous types of narcotics, as well as conduct missing person tracks and article searches. K-9 Ace is also available for demonstrations. To request a demonstration please contact Command Officer in Charge - Detective Sergeant Michael Boba at 847-588-6582.
