The current municipal telecommunications tax rate is 6.0%. This tax is levied against the gross billings of all telecommunications providers doing business in the Village of Niles. It was adopted by the
Village Board in 1997 (Ordinance 97-19). The tax replaced the utility tax on telephones, and is intended to broaden the Village tax base by including all forms of telecommunications.
