In 2014, the Community Development Department hired Camiros, Ltd., a highly regarded planning consulting firm based in Chicago, to assist in drafting more modern and appropriate zoning and subdivision regulations for the Village. During 2014 and 2015, Camiros and the Community Development Department conducted research, stakeholder interviews and community open houses to obtain ideas for improving these regulations. New rules were then drafted in 2016 and considered at a public hearing on May 23rd, 2016. The Village Board adopted these new zoning rules on June 28, 2016 and they became effective on July 1, 2016. At the same time, a new zoning map was also created for the Village.
