[ARCHIVED] Utility Worker Scams

We want you to be aware that you should verify the purpose and identity of any utility worker, who wants to enter your home. Questions you should ask yourself before allowing them entry. Did you contact that utility? Are they in a uniform with ID?  If you are concerned they may not be who they say they are you can contact the police department or call the main telephone number of that utility to be sure they have been dispatched by the utility for service. In most cases the utility worker should NOT enter your home unless you have made a request for service. Typically this occurs from Cable/satellite. Contractors that are working outside should not ask to enter your home. If you are concerned call 911. .
