ComEd has informed the Village of a possible challenge for a small number of customers who are on single-customer outages.
Customers who may have a damaged overhead service connection to the house would need repair work from a private electrician. As ComEd crews have been out assessing damage, these customers should have been notified. In short, if the condition of the homeowner’s portion of the infrastructure would not pass an inspection, ComEd is not likely to connect them.
In some cases customers may or may not realize that the repair to the riser, the attachment anchor or the riser are the customer’s responsibility and have to be repaired before ComEd can connect them. In addition to the on-site notification of residents, the our contacts at ComEd will be passing along these cases to the Village as they find them. The Village’s Community Development inspectors are happy to step in and meet with any resident that continues to have a power outage and the resident has repairs on their end to make.
Village staff are also proactively identifying single-customer outages to ensure everyone receives support who needs it.
As of 12:30pm on 11/28/2018, 70 Niles households were without power.
