In the healing arts, tai chi is used to promote the movement of energy through the body - similar to blood being pumped through the body. After 5, 10, 15 minutes of tai chi, many people report having pain relief, increased balance, and a sharper sense of their environment. The course at the NSC is taught by Renee Gastsis – a certified instructor from the Arthritis Institute. The NSC has a beginners and an intermediate Tai Chi course beginning October 15, 2010. This nine-session class is open to adults age 55 and better. There is a free tai chi demo on Friday September 24, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
