Update: Beginning Tuesday October 6th, the roadway surface will be milled starting at Lehigh Ave and moving west to east of Waukegan Rd. Following the milling, there will be structure adjustments, patching, resurfacing, and other operations that will create lane closures and different traffic control configurations. As always, please exercise caution while driving and be considerate to workers and other travelers on Howard St.
The Howard Street Rehabilitation Project, from Milwaukee to Lehigh, includes new underground storm sewer, improved pedestrian and bicycle facilities, improvements to the traffic signals, decorative elements such as special pavement markings and signs specifically for bicyclists, landscaped medians, a gateway monument sign and new LED street lighting. In addition, the roadway will receive a new driving surface. Expect lane closures as the work progresses from Lehigh to the west. Please use caution as you use the roadway, and be considerate to the workers as Howard Street is improved.
