NILES, JUNE 26 2020 [UPDATED 6:00 P.M.] - Village Hall and Public Works were closed or closed early on Friday, June 26. Both buildings are being sanitized as a precaution following an employee in each building testing positive for COVID-19. In each case, it has been determined that the employee did not have contact with visitors or members of the public, and so the risk of them having passed the virus to visitors or residents is low. The Village of Niles has made an automated call to the public announcing the Village Hall closure. The recorded message can be heard by dialing (847) 588-8080.
The Village would like to assure the public that the risk of any visitor to the lobby of Village Hall or Public Works having contracted the disease is low. Village of Niles staff continues to closely monitor the situation surrounding the novel COVID-19 Coronavirus and evaluate the best course of action for protecting the community.
Vehicle Sticker Extension
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and this most recent interruption in Village Hall hours, the Village has announced that the vehicle window sticker deadline has been pushed back by one month. Residents and businesses now have until July 31 to purchase their sticker. Enforcement of displaying vehicle stickers will begin August 1.Village staff is still available by calling 847-588-8000, and vehicle stickers can be purchased online at www.vniles.com/onlinebillpay.
Village Hall will be reopen for normal business hours (open until 5:00 P.M.) on Monday, June 29, following a reduced-schedule soft-opening period.
