[ARCHIVED] Niles Teen Center- Week of November 2

Please find below information on events and activities taking place at or with the Niles Teen Center in the next couple of weeks.

1) New Teen Center Logo Design- WE HAVE A WINNER!!
With the help of teens and many staff from the Village of Niles, we have decided on our final design for the new Teen Center Logo. See Attached.
Over the coming six-nine months, we will be rolling out the new design on our marketing and information materials. We will be changing the signage on the building and updating our selection of T-shirt and accessories through

2) Thursday, Nov. 5 - Craft Project- 4:00- 5:30 pm- Dream Catchers
Come make dream catchers with us using yarn, wire loops and beads. Hang a mini one up in your locker or a larger one in your room. You never know, it might bring you pleasant dreams! If you have time, you can make extras to give to a friend.

3) Tues. Nov. 3 – Foosball Tournament- 4:00 pm
Most Tuesdays at 4:00p.m., Nick will set up tournaments for video games and table games like Foosball, Air Hockey, Darts, NBA2K15 or Call of Duty 3. Prizes may be awarded to winners.

4) Wed. Nov. 4 - “Girl Talk” Continues from 4:00-5:00 pm
Girl Talk is a group designed to meet the social emotional needs of teen girls. This group focuses on improving self-esteem, self-image, communication skills, conflict resolution, reducing stressors and addressing other issues teen girls face.

5) Community Tile Art Project- Lights ON Afterschool
Please participate in our community-wide, all-ages art project. See the Attached Directions and Template. Deadline in Friday, November 6

6) Fri. Nov. 6- Teen “In House” Movie Night- 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm- $3 each
Come to the Teen Center for Teen Movie Nights. Stop by or call to recommend a teen movie. All movies will be PG or PG-13. Bring a pillow or blanket and make yourself at home. Additional snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Fee goes toward additional supervision. No sign-up prior to event is necessary.

Pitch Perfect 2- (PG-13- Comedy-115 min)- Hoping to be the first American group ever to win a prestigious international a cappella competition, the Barden Bellas return in this song-filled sequel and come up against a rival group of European singers who are also determined to win.
The Longest Week (PG-13- Comedy- 86 min)- After his wealthy parents divorce, 40-year-old Conrad Valmont loses his generous living allowance and posh hotel digs. His friend Dylan Tate takes Conrad in -- but his gratitude doesn't prevent him from making a move on the woman Dylan has eyes for.

7) Discounted Tickets for Harlem Globetrotters in Rosemont- $10 off
Performance dates on Tues. December 29 and Wed. Dec. 30

8) Speaker Series- Thursday, Nov. 12- Connecting Wisely- 5:30-6:30 pm
Nicole Espinoza will explore ways social media impacts kids’ relationships and lives. It will focus on identifying ways to analyze and solve common social and emotional challenges kids face on social media. This curriculum was adapted from the book Connecting Wisely in the Digital Age by D. Heitner, PH.D. & K. Jacobson, M.A.

9) Niles Public Library- Teen Events and Programs
The second-annual Fandom Fest takes place November 21. Teens are encouraged to come in costume and bring their fan art for display.
