I would like us to be able to use our water manager, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Chicago (MWRD) to obtain some rain barrels for our community. MWRD offers free rain barrels to residents that are enrolled in their program. This mainly would help us in conserving water during droughts, assist with flooding during which we have storm run offs, help control moisture levels around the foundations of our homes and would mean less water that would have to be treated by the sewage plants. The rain water would be mainly used for gardening, since rain water would have less chemicals than tap water. Per the EPA: Lawn and garden watering make up nearly 40% of total household water use during the summer. This means we can lower our water bill. Best of all is who wouldn't want to benefit from a free rain barrel? Municipalities interested in participating in our free rain barrel program should contact Allison Fore at 312.751.6626.

As a Niles residence for about 22 years living around Milwaukee and Main St., I would like to see a new traffic light at Milwaukee and Monroe just north of Booby's. I understand that this is quite expensive but it may help with traffic congestion and accidents for cars attempting to make left turns to Monroe from either side. Monroe is like Main street in that it connects the east and west sides of Milwaukee Ave. I have seen over and over cars causing near accidents and traffic congestion at that intersection because there are no dedicated left turn lanes.

Our new tree lined corridor and village would be more appealing next to a village building that reflects the same style.
