Trustee Craig Niedermaier has lived in Niles for more than 40 years, residing in three different
Niles neighborhoods during that time. His father Jerry drove a cab, and his
mother worked as a principal in the Chicago Public School system for over
30 years. Margaret, and father Jerry moved here from the city to take advantage
of the good schools, great park district and low taxes. Decades later, those
were the same reasons Trustee Niedermaier cited to stay in Niles.
He graduated
from Niles South (K-5), then Niles North (6-8, now Culver), and
finally, Niles West in 1987. He attended the University of Illinois
at Chicago where he received both academic and athletic scholarships to
pay his way through school. He graduated with honors and twin degrees in
Writing and Graphic Design.
Trustee Niedermaier is the
proud dad of two great kids, both of whom attend the very same Niles schools that he attended. In addition to coaching both his son's and daughter's sports teams, he is also the president of the Niles Baseball League, dedicating the last five years to reviving the once-lauded Niles program
in which his father Jerry once played an important role.
As an
award-winning creative director, Trustee Niedermaier leads teams to create strategic identity and advertising programs for some of
the world’s largest brands. He hopes to bring some of that knowledge and
expertise to the village board.
