1. Where can I buy yard waste stickers?

Yard waste stickers can be purchased for $2.00 per sticker at The Village of Niles (1000 Civic Center Drive, Oakton and Waukegan), Senior Center (999 Civic Center Drive, Oakton and Waukegan), and at the Jewel Stores (5667 Touhy Ave, 8730 Dempster St, and 7900 Milwaukee Ave).

2. What is yard waste?

Yard waste consists of grass clippings, leaves, branches, plant clippings, and brush.

3. How do I dispose of my yard waste?

Residents may place an unlimited amount of yard waste at the curb on their regular garbage pickup day - provided that a sticker is affixed to each can or paper bag. Stickers are NOT needed for bundled branches.

4. When is yard waste collected?

April 1 through November 30, on the same day as your refuse and recycling pick-up.

6. How should brush and branches be prepared?

Branches must be less than 3” diameter and tied in bundles no more than 18” diameter and 4 feet long (One person must be able to lift a bundle). No stumps, roots, or attached dirt will be accepted.

7. When is brush collected?

The Village of Niles has a contract with Groot to offer a free branch pickup services to residents from April through November. Branches are collected each week on your garbage collection day. Branches placed for collection must be tied in bundles with twine or string and should be no more than 18 inches in diameter and four feet in length.

8. How do I put out my brush collection?

All branches must be placed on the house side of the curb in front of your home. Branch collection is provided by Groot on the same day of your regular garbage and recycling pickup. Branches can be bundled and set on the curb for free branch pickup. Small branches can be placed with other yard waste in a paper yard waste bag or a designated 32-gallon (standard size) garbage can with a yard waste sticker.

For bundled branches, branches must be less than 3” diameter and tied in bundles no more than 18” diameter and 4 feet long (One person must be able to lift a bundle). No stumps, roots, or attached dirt will be accepted.
